J Cole

As a new, up-and-coming artist at the Grammys, J Cole went for a very eye catching style. The thinner moustache works well when the sides are removed from the goatee, and a soul and chin patch are added for a more chiseled face shape. Growing the chin whiskers may take a while, but it is easy to maintain.

Get the Look

1. Shave neck and cheeks cleanly with the razor.
2. Leave the moustache and chin area to trim after.
3. Shave the mustache downward from under the nose leaving a thin line of whisker on the upper lip.
4. Shave the corners of the mouth, down toward the chin leaving the soul patch under the bottom lip.
5. Shape around the chin area to define the lines and trim the whiskers to the desired length.

Blake Shelton

Blake Shelton

Always keeping a closely trimmed beard at a four days’ growth length works well with Blake’s rugged country style and looks. Blake has a very square-shaped face and softer jawline, so the light beard growth creates some shadow and contour that is slimming and defining.

Get the Look

1. Allow the full beard to grow for several days until growth measures a couple of millimeters.
2. Shave the top of the cheeks to remove any stray whiskers.
3. Shave under the nose to form a straight line across the top of the moustache.
4. Shave the neck to remove any stray whiskers without removing the growth under the chin.
5. Maintain the look by trimming regularly to a 2-3 mm length all over.

Common

Common

The thicker and heavier beard growth focuses the eye on the lower half of Common’s face and compliments his smooth shaved head. This is a style that many guys who are folliclly challenged on top can rock out easily.

Get the Look

1. Allow the full beard to grow to a thick and full length.
2. Cleanly shave a line across the upper cheeks that meets the moustache at it’s widest point.
3. Shave downward under the nose to clean the line across the top of the moustache. This creates a fluid line that joins with the lines across the cheeks.
4. Shave inside the inner corners and edges of the mouth to define the shape.
5. Shave a clean line across the neck to define the jawline and trim the beard to a quarter inch in length.

Chris Brown

With a return to the Grammys, Chris wore a goatee shape that does not require a lot of growth and is easy to achieve. Keeping the shape thin on top and tight to the edges of his mouth helps to highlight, but not over accentuate, his generous and full mouth.

Get the Look

1. Shave your neck and cheeks cleanly.
2. Leave the moustache and chin area to trim after.
3. Shave the mustache downward from under the nose leaving a thin line of whisker on the upper lip.
4. Shave around the corners of the mouth, down toward the chin, and across the top lip to remove any stray hair.
5. Shape under the bottom lip and around the chin area to define the lines and trim to the desired length.

Flo Rida

Flo Rida

Cutting a sharp figure on the red carpet with a very sharp beard to match, Flo Rida wears a very defining style. This is a shape that can be worn by anyone with a full beard and a growth that stays close to the skin. The lines are very detailed and require a steady hand to get them straight.

Get the Look

1. Allow the beard to grow for a couple of days to thicken up.
2. Shave a thin moustache line down from under the nose to just above the upper lip.
3. Shave the cheeks downward to form a line that contours above the jawline.
4. Shave underneath the bottom lip, down to the chin, along the jawline.
5. Shave the neck and along the jawline to for a clean, sharp finish.
