Hugh's from Brighton, UK and, last year, after 34 years of trying, became the proud owner of a beard. His editorial experience so far ranges from running an international kitesurfing magazine to interviewing the world's biggest koi carp. 

There's nowhere like the USA. It is MASSIVE and there's so much to explore! Finding my way around cities by patrolling barbershops is actually a great way to find the real character of a place. Favorites so far are San Francisco's Mission district, New York's East Village (well, before Avenue A and B got cleaned up!), and further afield, Yosemite and Hatteras. Hoping to pack in many more road trips... and editing this site is such a great way of meeting some truly out-there and interesting characters.
